Hill City Church is a fresh, lively, loving church that is based in Pontypool, in the Eastern Valley of South Wales.
The church was set up in 2007 by our Founding Pastor, Dai Hankey, who was commissioned by our ‘sending church’ Highfields to establish a church in the area.
Today, we are a growing and diverse community of disciples primarily coming from Pontypool and surrounding areas and are united by one common passion – Jesus Christ. We believe that the gospel – the life, death and resurrection of Jesus – is great news for a broken world, and as such we are very excited about it! We meet throughout the week to worship Jesus, learn more about Him from the Bible, pray, break bread, share life together, and reach out to others with the outrageous, life-changing love of Jesus.
If you are new to the area or looking for a loving, gospel-centred church family to belong to, you’d be very welcome to come and join with us.
VISION
Our church draws it’s name from the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:14-16:
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Our vision is to be a community of worshippers on mission together in the Eastern Valley, whose lives are marked by radical discipleship and extravagant grace. To let our light shine for the good of others and the glory of God.
In light of this, we seek to be a church who are:
- Committed to sharing the gospel in our local communities and making disciples.
- Passionate about supporting and resourcing global missions.
In everything we do we want to be ‘Loving God & loving people in light of the love of Christ.’
